Heartworm is transmitted by infected mosquitos. This fact leads some dog owners to believe that heartworm prevention is only necessary when it’s hot outside and mosquitos are active, which is not recommended by most veterinarians. The objective of this springtime campaign was to promote the importance of year-round prevention with HEARTGARD Plus using in-clinic materials. The client also wanted to incorporate their existing “Sargent Chew” character.
The resulting campaign, which I conceived, wrote and managed, increased 12-month supply purchases in clinics. Ceiling danglers, window clings, counter cards and a petition poster helped encourage dog owners to “Take a Stand” and commit to protecting their pets all year. When a client purchased a 12-dose supply, they would sign their name on the petition poster display and receive an “I took a stand for my dog” sticker. The growing list of names encouraged involvement and made clients feel good about their purchase.
